Adenochilus gracilis Plant: scattered, slender, 5–20cm tall, with a stalkless leaf part way up the stem and usually a solitary white flower. Flowers: with a green, hooded dorsal sepal. Labellum usually red striped or spotted, with 2 rows of yellow calli from base to labellum tip. Flowering: December to January. Notes: Habitat: damp to wet montane, cool beech, podocarp or introduced pine forest. Central NI southwards. Conservation: local, scattered but common, not threatened. Key features: tiny flower, broad leaf above the ground, clasping stem. |
