Caladenia atradenia Plant: Stem up to 15 cm tall, leaf to 25 cm long but usually much smaller. Flowers: 1-3 , greenish yellow with maroon hairs on the outside of petals and sepals; maroon bars on the disc. Midlobe strongly curled with two irregular rows of stout, warty, maroon-black calli to the tip and long dark marginal calli. Inner calli more scattered. Flowering: September to December. Habitat: open scrub or forest; lowland to montane. Throughout the North Is and in the northern South Is Conservation: scattered localities, rarely numerous. A short flowering period of a week or so and scattered plants, mean it is easily missed. Naturally uncommon, sparse. Notes: Tall stem and long leaf notable when in bud. Key features: dark red calli on the labellum midlobe. |
