Caleana minor
Plant: inconspicuous colonies, to 15cm tall. Stems slender, reddish with a single long narrow leaf. Flowers: up to 7. Flowering: October to January. Habitat: warm places in flat open areas of fine sands with very low fertility. Conservation: vagrant, threatened. The single known population has persisted for over 100 years. Also recorded in the past at a few other northern sites but has not persistent there. Notes: called the flying duck orchid. Key features: very distinct flower shape. |
