Plant: To 25mm high. Leaves, sessile, cupped to begin with. Approx 12 x 11mm, oval-orbicular, concave at the ovary, minutely apiculate, green on top, pearly beneath with inset maroon glands dotted around the margin.

Flowers: Ovary sitting on the leaf. Dorsal sepal x, 5mm at centre, narrow and concave at the base, curling convexly over the labellum. Labellum deep maroon with an irregular chevron towards the tip, narrow and deep, Laterals sepals to 30mm long, upright.

Flowering: September - October.

Habitat: damp sea cliffs, the Manukau harbour.

Conservation: Threatened. Nationally Critical.

Notes: odd shape suggest hybrid orign.

Key features: ovary on the leaf, narrow dark maroon labellum face.
