Cryptostylis subulata Plant: up to a metre tall, with many ovate leaves up to 15mm long, and up to 20 flowers. Flowers: each to 50mm long, labellum uppermost, red yellow. Flowering: wide season; October to January. Habitat: supported by surrounding reeds or rushes, usually in wetlands. Northland. Conservation: spreading but still uncommon, range restricted. Notes: a recent coloniser. Key features: of wetlands, distinctive flower on tall plants with many broad leaves. |
