Drymoanthus adversus
Plant: Leaves to 15 mm, in fan shaped clusters sticking out from the stem, evenly coloured, glossy, fleshy. Flowers: 4mm across, creamy to green, usually flecked with reddish purple. Sepals and petals similar, elliptic. Flowering: October to December. Labellum cupped with upright flattened calli at each side, often meeting at the centre.Habitat: on a wide range of host trees and on rocky outcrops; on foggy spurs or stream sides, from lowland to subalpine forest. Conservation: common, locally a few plants on a tree; not threatened. Key features: white roots leading from a clump of leaves sticking out from the stem or surface; leaves unspotted, flowers spotted. |
