Earina aestivalis
Plant: stems sparse to 1m long, leaves 5-12 x 6-8mm, deeply channelled, with prominent midribs and lateral veins. Flowers: are up to 10mm across, cream with orange labellum, similar to those of E. mucronata but with a short column. Often has a lemon perfume. Flowering: November to April. Habitat: mainly coastal. Throughout. Conservation: local, not threatened. Notes: like E. mucronata but leaves are much broader, flowers often larger, later flowering, less common and widespread; has been regarded as just a variant of E. mucronata Key features: short column and broad channelled leaves on long unbranched stems. |
