Genoplesium pumilum
Leek Orchid Plant: up to 12cm tall, sometimes to 40cm. Flowers erupt from the side of the tubular leaf, leaving the free tip among the flowers. Flowers: Spikes of up to 30 cream to green flowers with reddish base uppermost. Flowering: February to May. Habitat: locally common in gumland scrub and winter wet clays, often with sundews and sedges. South to Nelson. Conservation: a few scattered plants in any locality, sparse. Notes: very similar to G. nudum but sometimes with more flowers. Key features: the leaf extends into the flower spike flowers dominantly creamy green. |
