Plant: leaves rush-like tubular enclosing the stem for half its height, usually about the same height as the flower stem.

Flowers: Raceme of 5 to 20 flowers, 5 - 8mm in length. Colour highly variable, usually reddish-brown to yellow-green. Laterals sepals joined together with blunt tips. Labellum similar in length to lateral sepals. Column wings as long or longer than the anther.

Flowering: December - January.

Habitat: High country tussock, grassland, and sub-alpine herb-fields.

Conservation: Not Recorded.

Notes: Records are few, but probably widespread throughout the high country. The status of this species is unclear.

Key features: column wings as long or longer than the anther, lateral sepals fused for most of their length.
