Pterostylis foliata Plant: to 30cm tall, stem stout elongating greatly after fertilisation. Leaves elliptic in a semi-rosette, stem with one or two leafy sheathing bracts. Flowers: medium sized 20mm tall, stout, erect with dark green, down-curved blunt dorsal sepal and petals. Labellum broad, dark green, paler below. Flowering: October to December. Habitat: Lowland; grassland and open scrub, track sides and well lit forest or scrub. Waikato to Otago. Conservation: scattered, never abundant; not threatened. Occurs in Australia Notes: Flower seems small in proportion to stem. Key features: basal rosette, long stem and broad curved dorsal sepal with blunt tip. |
