Pterostylis humilis Plant: 45–50mm tall with a rosettee of 3–4 elliptic bluish green leaves. Flower medium sized to 20 mm tall. Petals and dorsal sepal quite bunt. Lateral sepals stout short. Labellum crimson brown, broad; stigma prominent, heart shaped.Flowering: November to January. Habitat: high rainfall montane and subalpine scrub and grassland. Central North Is to Westland. Conservation: often common in scattered populations; not threatened. Notes: similar to P. venosa and only readily distinguished by the heart-shaped stigma. Key features: alpine habitat, very stout flower, heart-shaped stigma. |
