Plant: leaf bright green, fleshy, a flattened V.

Flowers: mid blue, rarely opens. Column violet at the base, top yellow opening upwards in a deep oval cleft with a rolled edge, a dark band between. Column arms with dense white, crinkled cilia.

Flowering: October to November.

v: wetlands, thriving in black ooze. Kaitaia northwards, local.

Conservation: few localities. Threatened.

Notes: like T. "darkie" in column form and colour but differing in habitat and flower, stem or leaf not as dark.

Key features: peaty wetland habitat, column violet, cleft at the top, column arms with crinkly cilia.
