Plant: up to 40cm high when in flower. Leaves plain green with no flush of red. Edges overlap above bracts. Flowers: up to 10, often opening together mauve or blue in colour. Column pale mauve tip projecting, wide across. Column arms upturned and converging, with coarse white cilia. Flowering: November - January. Habitat: Montane, open kanuka and manuka scrub. Kawekas, local. Conservation: Not recorded, rare. Notes: Only known from the Kaweka Range. Possibly a sterile hybrid, as it does not appear to set seed. Key features: column pale mauve with indego top and yellow edge. |
